Midwife

Maria has been a Certified Nurse Midwife at Bella Health and Wellness since 2017.  Following six years living abroad in the developing world in countries such as Mexico, Belize, the Philippines, India, and others, while working with the underserved, she received her undergraduate degree at the University of Louisiana.  She then received her Masters of Science in midwifery at Frontier Nursing University.  

She pursued midwifery following her time as a missionary because she saw the great disparities in healthcare the world over, especially women's services, prenatal care, and childbirth.  Maria worked as a labor and delivery nurse since 2013, which fueled her desire to accompany women on the journey to health and wellness, especially childbirth.  She believes that women's bodies are meant for wellness and optimum health; she loves to serve women and their families, encouraging them to embrace their strength and dignity, while supporting physiologic birth.  She loves the beauty of collaborative care at Bella, and treasures offering midwifery care to low and high-risk pregnancies alike. She will never stop being surprised by the amazing and miraculous nature of birth! 

Maria is married to her hubby, Ben, and loves spending time outdoors with her little ones. She was born and raised in Ireland, before immigrating to Colorado in grade school.  Her favorite hobbies involve making (and eating!) ice cream (and treats in general), playing outside, traveling, studying childbirth, and spending time with friends and family!
